Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth instead of metal brackets and wires. Efros Orthodontics provides Invisalign treatment at our Albany office. Our doctors build each plan from a digital scan, so treatment fits your bite and your schedule. Most adults finish in 12 to 18 months, and the aligners are nearly invisible while you wear them.

What Is Invisalign and How Does It Work?

Invisalign uses a series of custom clear trays to move teeth gradually. Each set is worn for one to two weeks before you switch to the next one.

Your First Digital Scan Visit

Treatment starts with an iTero digital scan instead of putty impressions. A handheld wand builds a 3D model of your teeth in minutes. That same model is used to manufacture your aligners. We also take digital X-rays to check root position and jaw structure before finalizing your plan.

Daily Wear Time for Aligners

Aligners need 20 to 22 hours of wear daily to stay on schedule. You take them out to eat, drink anything besides water, and brush or floss. Progress checks happen about every 6 to 8 weeks at our office on Western Avenue.

Invisalign or Braces: Which Fits You?

Both options move teeth effectively, but they suit different lifestyles and cases. The table below compares the two side by side.

Feature Invisalign Braces
Visibility Nearly invisible trays Visible brackets and wires, or tooth-colored ceramic brackets
Removable Yes, for eating and cleaning No, fixed to teeth
Typical timeline 12 to 18 months for most adults 12 to 30 months depending on the bite
Diet restrictions None, since trays come out to eat Avoid sticky candy, popcorn kernels, hard nuts, and ice
Office visits Progress checks every 6 to 8 weeks Adjustments about every 4 to 6 weeks, roughly 20 minutes each

If you want less visible treatment and can commit to consistent wear, Invisalign is often the better fit. If your case involves more complex bite correction, braces may be recommended instead.

What Does Invisalign Cost in Albany?

Cost depends on how much movement your teeth need and how long your case runs. We offer 0% interest payment plans with payments as low as $99 per month in some cases. We are also in-network with most major insurance plans, and new patients can start with a free consultation.

A payment plan can be built around your budget once we review your scan and X-rays. We will also check your insurance benefits before you commit to a plan.

Invisalign Questions From Albany Patients

Does Invisalign Hurt?

Most people feel mild pressure for the first day or two after switching to a new tray. This feeling fades quickly.

Can You Eat Normally During Treatment?

Yes, since you remove the aligners before meals. There are no food restrictions with Invisalign, unlike braces, which require avoiding sticky or hard foods.

What if an Aligner Breaks?

Call our office right away so we can advise next steps. This may include moving ahead to your next tray or ordering a replacement. Waiting too long can slow your progress.

Will Insurance Help Pay for Treatment?

Our office is in-network with most major insurance plans, and we can check your specific benefits before your treatment begins.
