Invisalign straightens teeth with clear, removable aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. Efros Orthodontics provides Invisalign treatment at our Latham office, with scans and checkups scheduled around work and school. Most adults finish in 12 to 18 months. The treatment suits teens and adults who want a less visible option than traditional braces.

How Invisalign Works
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners made from a digital scan of your teeth. Each tray shifts your teeth slightly. You move to the next set every one to two weeks as your plan directs.
You wear the aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. You take them out only to eat, drink, and brush. We check progress every 6 to 8 weeks.
Your First Invisalign Visit
Every plan starts with an iTero digital scan instead of putty impressions. We also take digital panoramic and cephalometric X-rays. The scan is what your aligners are built from, so there is no separate mold step. You can read more about the equipment on our technology page.
Is Invisalign Right for Your Bite?
Invisalign treats crowding, spacing, and many bite irregularities. More complex cases sometimes call for braces instead. Dr. Robin Lozman has practiced orthodontics in Latham since 1997. She can tell you at your consultation which option fits your bite.
Dr. Greg Efros, one of our six doctors, is a Diamond Invisalign provider. The practice describes him as being in the top 1% of Invisalign providers nationally.
Invisalign Compared to Braces
Both options move teeth effectively. They differ in appearance, diet rules, and how often you visit the office. The table below compares the two side by side.
| Feature | Invisalign | Traditional Braces |
|---|---|---|
| Visibility | Nearly invisible | Visible metal or ceramic brackets |
| Removable | Yes, for eating and brushing | No |
| Typical treatment time | 12 to 18 months | 12 to 30 months |
| Diet restrictions | None, remove to eat | Avoid sticky candy, popcorn, hard nuts, ice |
| Office visits | Every 6 to 8 weeks | About 20 minutes every 4 to 6 weeks |

Who Can Get Invisalign Here?
Invisalign is available for kids, teens, and adults. Treatment plans differ by age group, so we built separate pages for clear aligners for children, Invisalign for teens, and Invisalign for adults.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age 7. That early visit simply lets us track how the bite is developing.
What Invisalign Costs in Latham
Invisalign cost depends on how much movement your teeth need and how long treatment runs. We offer 0% interest payment plans with payments as low as $99 a month in some cases. We are also in-network with most major insurance plans. If you’d like to see your options in person, schedule a free consultation that includes X-rays, a digital scan, and a plan explained in plain language. Details on financing and insurance are on our patient resources page.

Invisalign Questions from Latham Patients
Does Invisalign hurt more than braces?
You may feel pressure for a day or two after switching to a new tray. There are no wires or brackets to irritate your cheeks.
Can you eat anything with Invisalign?
Yes, because you remove the aligners before eating. This is one advantage over braces, which require avoiding sticky candy, popcorn kernels, hard nuts, and ice.
How often are checkups during treatment?
We schedule progress checks every 6 to 8 weeks. There’s no wire to change at these visits.
What if you lose an aligner?
Call our office and we will tell you whether to move ahead to the next tray or order a replacement. We may move you to the next tray early if it’s close to time. Keeping your case with you during meals helps prevent this.
